A visit to Playforest inspires hours of creative play for your children – and as parents ourselves – we are committed to making the experience just as simple and rewarding for caregivers!
Below you’ll find some tips and guidelines that will help prepare you ahead of time for your first trip.
tips for a great day at playforest
What parking is available nearby?
Playforest does not have a parking lot, however ample street parking is available on the neighborhood streets around our building. During peak times, nearby parking may fill up and parking up to a couple of blocks away is sometimes required.
What are typically the peak busiest / quietest hours?
Please note that attendance can vary widely, however Playforest is typically busiest between 9 AM - 11:30 AM and quietest from around Noon - 3 PM.
How does food and snacking currently work?
During our Summer Preview Season 2023, Playforest is temporarily allowing guests to bring outside food for snacking on in our cafe area. We do intend to transition to allowing only food purchased in-house once our facilities are complete.
Please note that food may only be eaten indoors at the white or red tables in our cafe space. For health and safety reasons, food may not currently be consumed in our outdoor seating area
We ask that all guests wash and/or sanitize their hands after consuming food/drinks and to kindly deposit all food waste/packaging in our provided waste baskets.
Under our current Summer Preview Season rules, Playforest does not prohibit the consumption of any particular form of food allergen and makes no guarantee about providing an "allergy safe" environment. We're always happy to do everything we can to help keep those with food allergies safe, so please send us a message with any further questions or concerns.
What clothing & footwear are required?
We ask that all guests remove their shoes when inside our play facility. Playforest recommends the use of quality anti-skid socks for all areas, however they are not required during our Summer Preview Season. We typically carry our favorite brand of grippy socks for purchase ($4/pair at the door). Please note that this footwear policy is subject to change as we optimize guest safety and comfort in our new location!
Playforest features a sunny new outdoor space so be sure to apply or bring sunscreen, hats, etc - it's a favorite hang out spot for the children!
What are Playforest's different play spaces?
Playforest features a large main indoor play space for all of our age groups but with some sections leaning towards younger or older guests. Our special mix of well-made imaginative, sensory, and motor play materials inspire quality play for a large age range of young children!
For infants, young toddlers, or those needing a little extra quiet, you can enjoy Sarah's Literacy Room, a new space curated by Sarah from Literacy Lady PDX for her workshops. Whenever Sarah doesn't have a class scheduled, guests are free to use her room as a calm play space with their little ones.
What new features is Playforest working on?
We are currently hard at work on:
Event Space - A separate room for hosting events such as birthday parties at Playforest. Those in an event party will have access to this private space as well as the main play areas and outdoors. Bonus - when there's no event taking place, the party room will be an extension of our main play area and feature special exhibits such as an interactive stage play area, light-based activities, costumes, and more!
Messy Art / Sensory - Dedicated to the 'art of getting messy' - a room specially equipped for a daily hands-on creative invitation that kids will find irresistible to the senses!
Upgrades to Outdoor Space - More shade / weather coverage structures coming! So much more outdoor play to come including every kiddos favorite - water play!
